On this Silverton roof replacement, our crew installed Malarkey Vista AR shingles in Storm Grey across an approximately 6,000-square-foot roof. The work took four days in October 2026. During tear-off, we found damaged decking near the valleys and replaced the affected areas before continuing with the roofing work.
Project at a glance
Location: Silverton, Oregon
Roof: About 6,000 square feet
Shingle: Malarkey Vista AR, Storm Grey
Time on site: Four days
Decking: Damaged areas near the valleys replaced
What we found during tear-off
Once the old roofing came off, our crew found rotted and damaged decking, particularly along the roof valleys. We replaced the affected decking before moving ahead. The homeowner had already supplied decking material, which we used for part of that work.

That detail matters because the surface underneath the shingles is part of the job, too. On this project, the decking work became clear after tear-off, when the crew could see the condition of the roof deck.
Photos from the work
The aerial photos below document the replacement in progress, from exposed decking through underlayment and shingle installation. They show stages of the job, not the final finished-roof view.
The finished roof
After the decking repairs and shingle installation, the completed Storm Grey roof shows the home’s long, intersecting rooflines. These aerial views show the finished result from several angles.
What if damaged decking is found during a roof replacement?
On this Silverton project, damage became visible after tear-off, and our crew replaced the affected decking before installing the new roofing. If your roofer finds damage on your home, ask to see the condition and discuss the repair scope before work continues.
